Mr Kevin,
the other day in carulla i saw a man that looked just like you, he was a tall, white, bald man with blond hair and light eyes, about your height and he was speaking in english to a little blonde girl, and that got me thinking about you, and the impact that you had in my life.
firstly, i have come to realize that the phrase that you had above the board, the one you drilled into Mariana Mayol's head, the one that said "people won't remember what you said or what you did, but always how you made them feel", is 100% correct, and it is one of the things that has stayed in the back of my mind since then. one of the things i live by. i wanted to thank you for teaching me that so soon.
i also wanted to thank you for teaching me to enjoy reading. well, because of the hour after lunch reading; The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Frindle, the one of the helicopter crash, and the one of the letters to the teacher, was the moment i most enjoyed in the day. why i always looked forward to going to school, why i was always a little bit excited when lunch ended. i was always waiting to know the rest of the story, and i think that that was when i realized the magic of reading. now, i have read a little over 20 books in what's been of the year, and i read 50 books last year.
right now i'm in my senior year still at the anglo, i'm eighteen years old, thinking about studying anthropology and or literature. and i guess i wanted to write this letter to you because i wanted to thank you for the patience that you must've had in order to handle us. and to let you know that the effort you made all those years ago was worth it, was appreciated, that you did leave an impact. thank you for that. i hope your life has turned out great.
warm and kind regards,
Paula Herrera
